Here is Day 25 of the Instagram #yogafools challenge, hosted by @masumi_g @laurasykora and myself. Good luck! Have fun and be safe!
Virabhadrasana III
1. Start standing, feet together, begin breathing deeply. Inhale your arms up to the sky, palms come together (you can also keep them parallel and shoulder width apart)
2. Step forward onto your right foot. Slowly pivot your body forward, bring your torso down to hip level and lift your left leg up to hip level.
3. Keep reaching your arms forward, your body now resembles a capital letter T.
*if reaching your arms forward doesn’t feel right today, it’s okay to sweep them out to the sides like airplane wings.4. Evenly distribute your weight throughout your standing foot. Standing leg is firm and stable. Back knee is locked, leg is engaged, foot is flexed, toes spread. A strong leg is a light leg.
5. Internally rotate your left leg to drop your left hip down to the same level as the right. Back toes point toward the floor, not toward the left side.
6. Engage and lift your belly, lift your chest and reach your arms forward with the same intensity that you kick your back leg back. Biceps stay by ears, shoulder roll down away from ears. Gaze forward slightly, but don’t crunch the back of your neck.
7. Breath here, be present to the sensations of this moment. Slowly set your left foot back to where it started and step your right foot back to meet the left. *Repeat on the left side.
I hope that you all enjoy practicing this pose! Don’t forget to tag your posts #yogafools so that we can all see them., and follow @masumi_g, @laurasykora, and @tarawolfjewellery to stay up to date on challenge poses.
As always, be safe, listen to your bodies, and never compromise your health in any way for the sake of a photo. Can’t wait to see all of your beautiful poses!
Have FUN!
